Thrifty Thursday: Put me in coach

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Good morning, campers!

Thrifty Thursday** for October 23, 2008 is for my fellow Virtual Assistants, and for those of you who aspire to do what I do for a living. If you’ve been in the game a while and need to play a bigger game, this one’s for you. If you’re thinking of launching your own Virtual Assistant business, this one’s for you. It comes down to this: You want what I’ve got, but you’ve reached a plateau or you don’t know how to get there. You want my 30-second commute, you want to be home when the kids get off the school bus, and you want to put your amazing skills to use and reap the financial rewards. You’re tired of office politics, you’re tired of that 1 or 2 hour commute, one way, and you’re tired of not having control over your business life. Do you want what I’ve got, sweetheart? Show me … ;-)

Thrifty Thursday** for 10/16/08 is an amazing 50% discount on all individual VA coaching calls through the end of 2008. Have I gone crazy? Nope. Am I out of my mind? Nope. This 50% discount through the end of the year is one of my gifts to you. I’m approached by so many Virtual Assistants and the VA wannabes who’ve raised their hand and asked for help, even more so now what with the national economy in its current state. So many of you are wanting to leave Corporate Cubicle Monkey Land, you know you’ve got the goods, and you also know you need coaching. My gift is to give you the same great knowledge, the same tested techniques, and the same support, and to do all of this while leaving more money in your pocket.

You’ve known me long enough to know I’m not a sugar-coater, so I won’t start being one now. Living and breathing the “virtual lifestyle” is one of the toughest things you’ll ever attempt. Get prepared, get coaching, get the support you need. I am here to help and guide you, to listen to your fears and concerns, and to get you moving. Our coaching partnership is one of trust and respect, and no questions and issues are off-limits. Plus, if I can prevent one person from making the stupid mistakes I made when I first started out as a Virtual Assistant, my time here on Earth will have been well-spent!

I can help you, but you’ve got to take the first step by reaching out to me and letting me know you need help.

This very special Thrifty Thursday** for October 16, 2008 ends at the stroke of midnight on December 31, 2008. Grab some Virtual Assistant coaching hours now at the 50% discount rate, and let’s get to work!

Virtual training in September

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Good morning, Sharks!

Ahhhh, September! Summer vacations are now a not too distant memory, winter is just around the corner for those of us in snow states, and your tax deductions, no matter their ages, have returned to their schools. September (and every month!) means you should take your fine self back to school as well, and this month we’ve got you covered with two very special virtual training sessions:

Learn HTML

Why these four little letters, H-T-M-L, strike so much fear in the hearts of so many is beyond me! HTML, or Hypertext Markup Language, is the basic building block of all web documents. When you view the “Page Source” on your favorite web pages, I know it’s difficult to translate the HTML coding you’re viewing. After attending this fun and informative webinar, you’ll learn the easy-to-understand method behind the madness that we call HTML.

Riddle me this, my fellow Virtual Assistants: How many times have you turned down coding work? How many times has a prospect asked, “Can you code my Craig’s List ads?” or “I need someone to add some basic codes to my LinkedIn, Facebook and Jason’s Network pages. Can you do that?” or “Article marketing sounds really interesting! Can you add some codes on those sites which don’t have the WYSIWYG editor?” Don’t hang your head in shame because you declined this work! Instead, come and join me for DavisVA’s HTML webinar, and acquire this skill this month.

Advice from a Virtual Assistant

So, you’re thinking about what I do for a living and you’re thinking working as a VA is a good fit for you and your family? Good for you! Working as a Virtual Assistant is very rewarding, and yet very tough and demanding. You’ve got enough questions floating around in your head to float the Northwestern, and you need the answers delivered to you from a seasoned professional. Because of all of this, and so much more, I’m offering my Ask the VA 60-minute webinar. One hour where I dispense my time-tested advice and thoughts on best practices, followed by your hard hitting questions during the Q&A session. The call is recorded, and I’ll send you a copy of the MP3 file along with all the notes. Plus, all participants will be entered into a drawing for a one hour complimentary coaching session with me. Your life just got a whole lot better!

Register now for the Ask the Virtual Assistant session coming up later this month.

WWLD: Become an Apprentice

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Good morning!

Today’s edition of What Would Lori Do? has your name written all over it if you’re thinking of launching your own Virtual Assistant business. If you’ve been doing your research, you know just how tough living and breathing the “virtual lifestyle” is, and more important how dramatically different it is from working in Corporate Cubicle Monkey Land.

If you really want your own VA business, you need to stuff that gorgeous brain of yours with best practices, virtual tools of the trade, and lots of hardcore and time-tested information. You need to buddy up with someone who’s going through what you’re going through, plus you need to get advice, support and mentoring from a very successful Virtual Assistant. You need to learn how to market yourself and your business, as well as acquire those skills which business owners need to outsource.

What Would Lori Do? Well, I’ll tell ya! I would consider becoming an apprentice to another Virtual Assistant who’s been in business for a significant amount of time. I would investigate DavisVA.com’s Virtual Assistant Apprentice program and see if it’s a good fit for me, my style and my budget. I would set my plans in motion and not wait for tomorrow …

Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda? I don’t think so, campers. When you want something, you don’t put off until next Friday, next month, or the new year. You start right here and right now, and move forward. You investigate my Virtual Assistant Mastermind offerings, and determine if what I bring to the table matches up with what you need. You contact me for a VA consultation and discuss my apprentice program. You don’t sit around, pick the lint out of your belly button, and wait for things to fall in your lap. Carpe VA, my Killer Sharks, Carpe VA!

What Would Lori Do? I’d shake a tail-feather and call one of the most successful Virtual Assistants in business today, and let her know I want what she’s got. 866.611.LORI.

Friday, August 1st, 2008

August is generally a slow time of the year, what with the President relaxing at the Western White House and Congress away for its recess. Instead of staring at your belly button lint and wondering what to do during this month, check out the must-attend Webinars DavisVA.com will be hosting:

Learn How to Become a Virtual Assistant

The next Webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, 2008, so secure your spot today! Sixty-minutes of an information packed and fun Webinar where I’ll dispense up-to-date information on the Virtual Assistance field, how I got started and the one thing you should never do when you partner with a new client. At the end of my presentation, I’ll open the floor for a Q&A session, so hit me with your best shot! Attendees receive an MP3 recording of the call, all notes in PDF format, and the chance to win a complimentary coaching call with me, Lori Davis, Virtual Assistant Coach.

Join a Virtual Assistant Team

You know me, you love me, and you wanna ride on my coattails. Bring it on, my fellow Virtual Assistants! Join me on Tuesday, August 12, 2008, for DavisVA.com’s Associates Webinar. All the information you need about joining my team, including my highly-competitive payout structure, and your questions and thoughts to round out the Webinar. If you need to get your feet wet prior to launching your own VA practice, this is the place to be.

A favor? Google “Virtual Assistant” and tell me what you see. Who’s on page 1 and the first Virtual Assistant Company that’s actually in business? Exactly. Now do you understand the level of inquiries I’m receiving on a daily basis regarding Virtual Assistant services? Good … ;-)

Are you still here? Silly goose you are! Scamper on over to DavisVA.com and grab your spot for the VA Team Webinar.

HTML Training

Sometimes you folks make me feel like a broken record! I’ve said it a thousand times and I’ll say it once more: All Virtual Assistants must know HTML Basics. I’m taking your clients because you haven’t acquired this most basic of skills, and I’ll continue to do so until you get with the program. HTML is super easy to learn and it’s a skill you can sell to your clients. They need you to code their articles and blogs posts, along with their Backpage and Craig’s List ads. Knowing the basics of HTML can earn you hundreds or thousands of dollars during the course of your career, but only after you add this bit of knowledge to your brain.

DavisVA.com’s HTML Training is coming up on Thursday, August 21, 2008, and it’s 2-hours of fun with you, me and other students who are also petrified about learning to code. Let go of those fears, take my hand and I’ll show you way!

So, I hear you want to become a Virtual Assistant. That’s exciting stuff, my friend! Before you pop the cork on that expensive bottle of champagne, stop and think about how you’re going to launch your new business. Do you know any other Virtual Assistants, or are you being coached or mentored by a successful VA? Do you know about the latest systems clients need, are you up to speed on article marketing and shopping carts, and do you have your web presence live? Do you know how you’re going to market your business, and have you planned out your services and your Rate Sheet? No on all counts, huh? Silly goose you are …

Let’s take this one step beyond: You’re not a silly goose for not having the things I listed above in place, you’re a Dork! That’s right and you read that correctly … You are a Dork. We’re cool though, because your Dorkdom can be flipped like a hot pancake, and you can come around to the correct way of thinking and working.

My goal is to stuff that gorgeous brain of yours with up-to-date and relevant information, and for you to begin steering your own course to success. Thrifty Thursday: Coaching for Virtual Assistants

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Good morning, campers!

Thrifty Thursday** for June 5, 2008, is a very special discount for my partners-in-crime in the Virtual Assistance field. Whether you’re starting your own practice, have been in business for some time and reached a road block, or you need coaching and support from one of the most successful VA’s in practice today, this one’s for you. Contact me, the VA coach, by 6:00 PM (U. S. Eastern time zone) next Wednesday, June 11, 2008, and I’ll give you 10% discount coupons for any four (4) coaching calls during the remainder of 2008. Mmmmmmmmmmwah! I love you too, and you’re welcome!

I know how tough it is living the “virtual lifestyle;” I live, eat, drink and breathe the stuff every day. From the tire-kicking prospects to the high-maintenance clients, from the husband who barges into your home office, to the clients who think they can call you at midnight … it’s a tough gig! On the flip side, those of us who work virtually enjoy a level of autonomy most humans will never experience. I wouldn’t trade what I have now for all my time in Corporate America, and I know you feel the same.

There’s no shame in your game for reaching out and asking for help. “Help” is one of the best 4-letter-words going, and it’s empowering to let go and get the hardcore support and advice you need. My mission is to share my knowledge and experiences with you, to help you move quickly from “employee” to “business owner” mindset, and to prevent you from making the mistakes I’ve made on my journey. I also want you to think differently about your own practice, and how you’ll manage the balance between your home life and your business life (both of which are conducted at home).

To my upstart VAs, I applaud your efforts as you launch your own business, and I want your pretty little brain jam-packed with good and tested information. For my fellow Virtual Assistants who’ve been in business for a while and you’re stuck, let’s work together to get you out of the rut.

Thrifty Thursday** phone lines for 6/5/08 close at 6:00 PM Eastern next Wednesday, 6/11/08. Contact the coach for virtual assistants and let’s talk!

** This Thrifty Thursday discount may not be combined with any other discounts offer by Davis Virtual Assistants.

Get support to go to the next level

Monday, October 9th, 2006

Good morning, campers! It’s Monday, October 9, 2006. As I say at the end of the weekly Wild WE This Week newsletter, whatever you do today, do it big, do it wild and MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Speaking of “making it happen” I know many of you want what I’ve got. Frankly, I don’t blame you! If I were you, I’d want my own highly successful virtual assistance practice and to no longer sit in two hour commutes. I’d want the opportunity to cherry-pick my clients and to set my hours. I’d want to have the ultimate 30-second commute and to have more time for my family and those long-forgotten hobbies.

If I were you, I would want everything I have …

So here’s the thing: I truly believe you CAN have anything and everything you want in business and in life. (I’m a living example of this philosophy.) I also believe, correction I know, that if you really want something you’ve got to set realistic expectations, you must set a firm foundation and you must be commited to the things you want, full tilt. Half-stepping is not allowed!

And here’s another thought for you to chew on: How you define success is as unique and individual as you are. What is your vision for your work life? Are you looking to fly the corporate coop, or have you been pushed out due to downsizing? Are you a stay-at-home mom or dad who’s looking to enhance the family’s income? What do you want when it comes to your job, or do you even know? How do YOU define success?

I know you want what I’ve got, and I know many of you want to break free from Corporate America and work from home. When you’re ready to talk about VA coaching, I’ll be here. When you’re ready to learn from my nearly 7 years of experience as a VA, I’ll be here. When you want to learn the secrets of my success and apply these secrets to your practice, I’ll be here.

Contact me today and let’s find out if my coaching for virtual assistants programs are a good fit for you. Pick up the phone and call me at 917.319.8224 (New York), or shoot me an e-mail to coach AT DavisVA.com with “VA coaching” in the subject line. We’ll schedule your consultation and get you moving in the right direction.

It’s Monday … make it big, make it wild and most important make it happen!

‘Lori, I want what you’ve got!’

Monday, July 31st, 2006

The subject of this post was the same subject of an e-mail message I received earlier today. That message made me smile and giggle out loud, as I thought about how happy I am being able to work from home.

I responded to the sender and the bullet points of her message. She detests her daily commute, and some of her co-workers. (Been there, done that, AND bought the t-shirt.) She wants to return to school and doesn’t have the time to do so. (Well, she DOES have the time, she hasn’t MADE the time to achieve this goal.) She wants a greater level of independence and autonomy than she has now in Corporate Cubicle Land. (Girl, I could go on and on and on about this topic …)

Here’s how this lady impressed me:

  1. She’s done a lot of research already on Virtual Assistance industry.

  2. She dropped the “M” word on me: Money. Meaning, if she wanted to do the VA thing part-time to get her feet wet, she’s got substantial money in the bank to cover her living expenses.
  3. She’s already scoped out my VA coaching competition and wasn’t impressed. It takes a lot to impress this Director of the Future, and this lady did just that with a well thought out and carefully worded e-mail message.

Here’s the thing, Sharks: I can’t give you what I’ve got. Correction, I WON’T give you what I’ve got. I’ve worked long and hard on the Davis Virtual Assistants empire. This business is my baby, and I love it and nurture it as such. Now, while I won’t give you what I’ve got, I will do the next best thing and school you as to how I achieved this high level of success.

Did I sign this lady as my next VA coaching client? Of course. She’s a prime candidate to launch a business in my industry. And we both know that with some guidance and direction, she too can have what I’ve got. Independence. 30-second commute. Less stress and more happiness.

Want to learn more about coaching for Virtual Assistants? If you’re really and truly ready for a different work life, call or e-mail and let’s discuss my VA coaching programs, and to see if we’re a good fit. If you want to work with an aggressive and progressive coach, and someone who will challenge you during the process, well, we might be a good fit. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a coach who’ll sugarcoat everything for you, you should probably continue looking elsewhere. Being in business for yourself is not for everyone, and I’ve told numerous VA wannabes as such.

The next step is yours …
