Virtual Assistant: Defined
A Virtual Assistant (VA) is an entrepreneur who operates a
home-based business, providing administrative, technical, creative
and other types of services. Some VAs provide specialized services,
such as bookkeeping and marketing. Other VAs are what I refer
to as general practitioners,
in that we provide a broad spectrum of administrative, creative
and technical services to our clients.
I'm a full-time and professional
Virtual Assistant and I reside
in the great state of New York, in the gorgeous Adirondack
Mountains. The Davis Virtual Assistants team has clients
in San Francisco & Southern
California, Kansas City, Miami, Houston, Vancouver, Wisconsin,
Washington, D.C., Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, Florida, Boston,
Vermont, Oklahoma, Virginia, New Jersey, Long Island, New York
City, Phoenix, Michigan and London, to name but a few places. If
you think your assistant must travel to your office, you're
wrong.
Am I Ready to Hire a Virtual Assistant?
Such a good question! You get a gold
star for today ...
Just like any business partnership, the VA-client
partnership is unique and it takes both parties working together
to ensure
it's a successful and productive relationship. Here are a few
bits of advice as you venture into the world of Virtual Assistance:
- Remember that we're business owners, just like you are.
We work hard to earn it every day, just like you do. If you
think
I sit at home and eat bon-bons all day, you've got another
thing comin'! I've worked harder at this--managing and expanding
the Davis Virtual Assistants empire--than all the time I
spent as a cubicle monkey in Corporate America.
- Be realistic
about your personality type. If you're Power
Player Pete, Suzy Granola is probably not your best choice
in a Virtual Assistant. Partner with someone who will mesh
well with your personality and work style.
- Start small in
regards to the first few tasks you turn over to your VA;
don't turn over everything en masse on the first
day of work. Get to know her work style, personality and
reporting procedures, and ensure she's a good fit for you
and your business
before you hand over the big stuff.
- Be realistic about your
budget. If you've got the bank to outsource $1,000 a month,
good for you! You've achieved a high-level
of success and you're laying the foundation for even more.
If your budget is leaner, that's just fine! All that means
is that we start with the really important stuff first, and
watch your business go through the roof. Most of the folks
I've had the good fortune of calling DavisVA clients had
small budgets ... at first. After a few short months, all
of them
witnessed the awesome power of outsourcing, and gave us more
work to do. Return On Investment, campers: Learn it, live
it, love it!
- Do your homework and ask for current and verifiable
references.
- Take all the time you need when comparing rates.
You know what I'm going to say next: Return On Investment!
Most small
business owners need a healthy mix of the administrative
and the technical. If you need to outsource to two separate
VAs
because one only has the ability to answer phones and check
your e-mail, you've got to ask yourself if that partnership
is worth your time and hard-earned dollar. Luckily for you,
you're visiting the website of Davis Virtual Assistants,
and we've got both the administrative and technical skills
to get
the job done. PLUS we've got the most competitive rates in
the industry.
- Ask yourself, 'Do I like this person?'
- Ask yourself, 'Do
I trust this person?'
- Ask yourself, 'Can I work with this
person?'
The Benefits of Working with a Virtual Assistant
Business
owners and entrepreneurs come in every make and model, and
the one thing we have in common is we want to ensure we're
getting the most bang-for-the-buck in regards to our expenditures.
As you make your decision to partner with Davis Virtual Assistants,
keep in mind the following benefits:
- You don't have to buy another computer, or make room for
another person in your office. This is very good news for
my fellow
home-based business owners! I have a fully-equipped home
office (as do my Associates), including broadband internet
access,
dedicated telephone lines, computers and printers.
- You don't pay taxes.
- You
don't pay "benefits," such as health and
dental insurance, sick leave and vacation time.
- You only pay for the time you use a Virtual Assistant,
and a full-time commitment is not required.
- You don't worry about your staff commuting to your office
and being late due to traffic or problems on your public
transit system. We work from home and can assist you right
now.
- You've got after-hours support when you work with Davis
Virtual Assistants. Burning the midnight oil for tomorrow's
deadline?
Call us and we'll work with you. Four hands are always
better than two!
Lori,
I think I'm ready to “go virtual.” What's next?
The next
step is to download your complimentary copy of DavisVA's "Going
Virtual Checklist." Rome wasn't built in a day, and "going
virtual" shouldn't be accomplished in a single day either!
Download and print my Going
Virtual Checklist, follow the simple
instructions contained in this document and then contact
me to discuss the tasks and projects you want to outsource.

Conservative (are you surprised, especially considering I
live in New York state!) teller of truth (I'll give you a
spoonful of sugar if it stings
too much), Send

9-to-5 job.
As general
practitioner Virtual Assistants, we specialize in providing
the critical and necessary elements of virtual
office administration,
handling everything from data entry projects to proofreading
and forms creation. From calendar and e-mail management
to surveys and HTML coding, we offer a wide variety of administrative,
technical and creative services to assist you in maintaining
a more efficient office, allowing you the time and energy
to do what you do best: manage
your business and bring home the bacon!
There
are innumerable tasks which your Virtual Assistant can
handle for you. I encourage you to review my Virtual
Services page and then call or e-mail so we may discuss
your outsourcing needs in more detail. The way I see it,
you can continue
on in your unorganized, stressful existence, or you can
make
a positive
change and
make your business more successful and your work life less
hectic.
Are you
ready to take your business to the next level? Of course
you are--that's why you're here. To the bat phone!
